DIY: Envelope in 5 Steps!
As a huge Pinterest enthusiast (Username is HeyEmilyLeo, follow me) I saw all of the 'Open When' letters and thought it would be a cute idea for my boyfriend as a homemade Christmas present! I wanted to go that extra mile and make it really nice looking so instead of just buying a bunch of white envelopes, I decided to make my own! I wanted to get really fun paper and make them all different staying with the color scheme. So, with a little trial and error, here is the method I came up with to make your very own envelopes!
I then removed the tracer.
Step 1:
Get supplies. I actually ended up not using the tape which I will explain at the end but the most important thing you need is the paper and sciccors! The paper I got I picked up at a craft store but it is also available on Amazon!
My wrapping paper and box theme was gold and wanted to keep it as non-girly as possible so the blue and gold was perfect!
Step 2:
Cut out a heart shaped piece of paper. You do this by folding a paper in half and tracing half of the heart. You then cut it and when you open it you have a full heart!
Step 3:
I took measurements and did a trial run on a piece of paper and ended up using this as my tracer! The paper I bought was 12x12 so if that's the size paper you have, the measurements I used would work perfectly for you! Otherwise, you could play around with it and see how it works.
I then folded it into the way you'll see next again, as a guidelines.
Step 4:
Place your tracer with the measurements over your heart.
Step 5:
Start folding along the lines of your guide lines!
I then fold the top of the heart so it reaches the end of the colored part as perfectly as it can.
And you're done! Now, in regards to the tape, you could tape the colored parts on the inside together, but I thought it would be pretty cute for my boyfriend to open the envelope and see the shape of a heart! So, that's it! How to make your own envelopes in 5 easy steps!
Let me know if you tried this!
