Why be Cruelty Free...
When you first get into make-up in your pre-teens, you are opened up to a whole new world full of many magical things from many magical places and many magical people. As I said in my introduction, I first got into make-up by watching YouTube tutorials, primarily by Kandee Johnson. Practically EVERY product she used I felt like I HAD to have and was always at the top of my Christmas/ birthday list.
For those of you who do not know me personally, I have been a vegetarian on and off since I was 10. The last time I decided to stay vegetarian was for moral reasons in regards to the thought of eating cute little animals. I haven't had meat for about two and a half years now and really do not ever see myself going back.
When I found out that make-up brands tested on animals in the 21st century with so many alternatives available, I was disgusted. I could not imagine all of the cute little bunnies and even puppies (yes puppies) that get tested on for cosmetics that are 100% NOT necessary. I then took it upon myself to do a lot of research. I mean A LOT.
I may not fully agree with all of Peta's actions or otherwise, but their Beauty without Bunnies section is very helpful in search for cruelty free brands. That being said, it's important not to take everything you see or read as full fact. Websites or blogs can be outdated or just false from ignorance or misinformation so it is important to get facts from multiple sources.
The main objective to avoiding brands that test on animals is that maybe they'll see they aren't profiting as much as brands that do not test on animals and will decide to change their ways. Hopefully, someday, every brand will be cruelty free!

So, what do you do with the products you already have from brands that test on animals? Some people may choose to throw them away or give them to friends but for myself, I had already spent the money on the products, throwing them away isn't going to tell the brands anything, so I am going to use the products up and just not purchase them again.
In make-up tutorials or posts on this blog, I may feature products from brands that test on animals but please know I no longer support these brands and will not be buying them again.
If you are looking for a beauty guru or YouTuber that is also cruelty free, my favroite at the moment is Kristen Leanne! Here are the links to her YT channel and blog:

I hope you found this somewhat useful. Hopefully together, we'll make unnecessary animal testing a thing of the past!
