Does Nivea Men Post Shave Balm as a Primer Really Work?
Bloggers and YouTube beauty gurus everywhere have been raving about this post shave balm as a primer but does it really work? Being skeptic is only natural of course for a number of reasons. First of all, it's purpose isn't supposed to be a good base for foundation and well, not many women shave their face. So, why does it work? Does it even work?
I purchased this just before New Years so I've been trying it out for a little over a month now and my overall conclusion: yes, it does work!
It's supposed to calm redness that would be caused from shaving so if you have any blotchy red patches on your skin or red acne, it really helps to counteract it and calm it down. It has a cool and lightweight feeling on the skin that makes you feel rejuvenated and replenished which is great to wake you up in the morning!
It does have that musky male scent, which personally, I really like but you only get a whiff of it on first application. It goes away almost instantly when you continue your makeup routine.
I would recommend taking a few minutes gap between applying it and continuing with your makeup to allow it to dry and fully soak into the skin.
Now, is it a replacement to a primer? In my opinion, no. I find it to be a good base for a primer because it does reduce redness and I really like the cooling feeling upon first application. The formula of it really makes a primer latch on which I really like!
It does not have any alcohol in it so it shouldn't burn you at all if you have sensitive skin! (It does say it's for sensitive skin on the bottle, anyway!)
I pair this bad boy with my Elf Poreless Skin Primer and I find it to be the best duo! A match made in heaven!
It comes in this nice glass-like bottle which I really like. You really only need a small, dime sized drop to cover your entire face so, a little goes a long way!
9/10
Great post! I've seen this around and it's great to read a review on it!
