REVIEW: St. Tropez Gradual Tanning Mousse
Long time no see, lovers!!! I know it's been a while since I posted and I apologize profusely. I was down with a chest infection for a while and then just got behind with college and life and had to neglect the blog, unfortunately. But, I'm back now with some fun reviews of new products and experiences for you guys! I probably will not post as frequent as I was but my goal is one post a week so hopefully I'll stick to it!
Anyway! I had a college ball (want to see a post about it?) and wanted to get tan! I wore a dark dress so I didn't want to be completely washed out and unfortunately I wasn't going anywhere sunny and tropical before hand so self tanning was my only option!
As a pale girl, I tend to gravitate towards gradual tans so I can build up the intensity to however dark I want it. I had used a St. Tropez product before and was really happy with it (click here for the link to the review) so I decided to stay with the brand! I picked this bad boy up at a local pharmacy that was on sale at €13.75 from €27.50!! How could I possibly pass it up!?!
The application of this was very very good. I didn't use a mitt (in the directions it said you could use your hands or a mitt) and didn't experience a single streak! There was no blotchiness at all. I was very diligent in the application process and had a second set of hands helping with my back.
Listen up pale people! This product is exactly what it says; "gradual tan." Upon first application, you could barely tell I was wearing anything which I loved. I applied it every day (sometimes twice a day) for 4 days until I had reached my desired intensity.
It does wash off in the shower but only a small layer of it does, I still walked out of my shower looking tan!
There was one situation of blotchiness. I was at the hair salon getting my hair washed and some of the water must have splashed onto my neck because there were two little pale circles on it! Talk about embarrassing! So, as soon as I got home, I took the slightest bit of a product on my index fingers and just filled in the little holes and it was PERFECT again! Blended seamlessly like it never happened!
You're supposed to let the tan dry for 2-3 minutes before getting clothed or rolling around on white sheets so I waited about 5-10 minutes for good measure and didn't have a problem with staining! Even while sleeping, my sheets are all white and there was no tan stains! Hooray!!
I did put the tan to the test, however. I wore a white long sleeve shirt and white hoody to see how it played out during the day. It just so happened I chose to do this on one of the hottest days we've experienced all year AND on one of the days I walked home from college instead of taking the bus. So, there was a little staining in the armpit area most likely due to sweat. I'll have to test this baby out in the summer and see how it fairs in intense heat. Otherwise, there was no staining anywhere else which I was pretty happy about!
On the bottle, it claimed to have no tan smell which I actually have to disagree with... When I was in bed with my hand near my face I could smell that distinct false tan scent. However, I do not think it was very potent and could not be detected out in public.
Overall this is a fantastic gradual tan that I would highly recommend to all of you. It gives a very natural looking tan that you can adjust to whatever shade you want. I would especially recommend this to all of my pale girls out there that get scared by false tan. This is perfect for us!
8.5/10
Hope you all found this review informative and let me know about other self tanners you like! I'd love to try them!
